"UNKNOWN CITY: China Contemporary Architecture and Image Exhibition", the opening exhibition of Pingshan Art Museum, was hosted by Shenzhen Pingshan District People's Government and curated by Zhang Yuxing, Yecheng and Han Jing. The exhibition invited 71 architects, planners, designers, artists and urban researchers to provide 71 works, and to think about the future direction of architecture and urban development from a multi-disciplinary perspective in a pedigree manner. The curators intended to bring together architects and artists who are active in the forefront of thinking about the human living space, come to Pingshan to reveal the unknown nature of urban ontology philosophy and the possibility of the city's future through various art forms, such as installations and images. It provides us an opportunity to think about the city, architecture, and human living space altogether.

The installation at this very specific site, is addressed as “Alternative Exit” in juxtaposition of the only stair-exit in the lobby: adapting to the local condition, making the best of the situation, and taking things as they are. However, the winding scenery along the way makes such an alternative route worth exploring.
